Historic photo contest to benefit theater

Members of the Wayne Historic Theater board are looking for a few artists for their next fundraiser.

The group is seeking photographs of Wayne and its residents for a photography contest that will be judged at the Wayne Wheelfest at the end of August.

Don Nicholson, the capital fundraising chairman of the Wayne Historic Theater board, said the contest would seek entries in two categories: landscape and portraits.

Landscape photos will be any building or outdoor feature in Wayne while portraits have to be taken in Wayne, featuring images of animals or people.

The entry fee will be $10 and prizes will be award in each category: $100 for first place, $50 for second and gift certificates for third.

Festival attendees will vote on the photographs by placing purchased raffle tickets into a corresponding can throughout the festival.

The winner of the best in show category—selected by Nicholson, a representative from the Wayne Chamber of Commerce and The Wayne Eagle—will receive $100 in cash, donated gifts and have their picture reprinted in The Wayne Eagle.
